General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will take effect in the UK in May 2018. It replaces the existing law on data protection (the Data Protection Act 1998) and gives individuals more rights and protection in how their personal data is used by organisations. Bishop Auckland Music Society (BAMS) has to comply with these requirements, just like any other charity or organisation, and this means that, even though little will change in practical terms, we now need to formally seek your consent to continue to use the personal data we hold for you for defined purposes and using agreed methods of communication. We therefore need to ask you to complete this on-line form for our compliance records. Please enter your details in the boxes provided and indicate your consent/agreement to the various items by ticking the check boxes. We would be grateful if you could please complete the response form by return if possible, since, whilst the new law does not come into force until May 2018, we have a lot of work to do before then. Thank you for your understanding. BAMS' Data Protection Policy, detailing your rights and how your data is protected, is now displayed on the society's website. You naturally have the right to see what data we hold for you and to have it removed or modified at any time.
